Welcome
I am an Assistant Professor of Border Rhetorics in the Department of Rhetoric and Writing Studies at San Diego State University, where I research and teach visual rhetoric and food studies. Research and teaching are about making connections and putting diverse populations, methods, and ideas in conversation.
My research interests include expanding the intersections between the field of Food Studies and Rhetoric, incorporating Information Literacy within the First-year Writing classroom and program, and the role writing tutors have in assisting English Language Learning students with their language acquisition.
My co-edited collection Latin@s’ Presence in the Food Industry: Changing How We Think About Food as part of the Food and Foodways Book Series with the University of Arkansas Press brings together scholars in the fields of History, Anthropology, Sociology, Chicano Studies, Literature and Rhetoric to explore the diverse, and not always readily apparent, ways that Latin@s relate to food and the food industry.
For more information on my project and publications, please continue to my CV or contact me at [email protected].
